Lancaster Bar Association Membership Categories:

Attorneys (Private Sector) - $246.10 (5+ years in practice) (+ PBA dues)*

Any member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is eligible for full membership if a law office or principal residence in Lancaster County is maintained or has previously been a full member of the Association. Attorneys in 1st year are FREE. 2nd to 4th year is $172.50.

Attorneys/Judges (Public Sector - Government & Non-Profit) - $246.10 (5+ years in practice)

For those employed full-time by a public interest agency or by a federal, state, or local government agency.

Associate Members - $285.20

Any member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania who does not qualify for full membership, is not actively engaged in the practice of law, or is admitted to the bar of the highest court of another state or foreign country. Not eligible to vote or hold office.

In-House Counsel - $246.10

Magisterial District Judges - $223.39

A sitting Magisterial District Judge may apply for membership. Not eligible to vote or hold office.

Retired Members - $95.45

Any person who (i) retires from the practice of law in this Commonwealth or is otherwise on inactive status and is in good standing, (ii) is at least 50 years of age at the time of ceding his/her PA law license, (iii) was a full member of the Association for at least ten years and (iv) who at the time of ceding his/her PA law license or going on inactive status was an active member of the Association. Not eligible to vote or hold office.

Paralegals - $69.00

An individual may apply to be a Paralegal Member of the Association who is currently employed and qualified through education, training, or work experience to perform substantive legal work requiring knowledge of legal concepts and ethics, under the direction of an attorney or other supervising manager. Not eligible to vote or hold office.

Law Firm Administrators & Law Librarians - $69.00

A Law Firm Administrator or Law Librarian who is currently employed as such may apply to be a member of the Association. Not eligible to vote or hold office.

Emeritus Members - FREE

A member who has paid dues regularly for at least 50 years, has reached the age of 75 years, and is an active practitioner of the Bar in good standing. A written request must be made to become an Emeritus Member.

Law Students - FREE

Any person enrolled in good standing at any accredited school of law. Not eligible to vote or hold office.

^{* Because the LBA is a "unit county," attorneys in the private sector must join the LBA and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.}

Note: If a member decides to join the Association in the middle of the year, membership dues are prorated. Any questions, email Executive Director Lisa Driendl-Miller.
