The Lancaster Law Foundation is a publicly supported charitable organization founded in 2002 to improve the delivery of legal services and promote equal access to justice for residents of Lancaster County. Through philanthropy, education, and service, the Foundation supports initiatives that strengthen access to civil legal services, increase awareness of legal resources, and advance law-related education within our community.

Community Grant Interest Process

The Lancaster Law Foundation Community Grants Program provides funding to nonprofit organizations operating in Lancaster County whose programs align with the Foundation’s mission.
The program remains invitation-only. However, organizations may submit a Community Grant Interest Form for consideration.
Submission of the Interest Form does not constitute a formal grant application. After review, selected organizations will be invited to submit a full grant application.

Interest Form Deadline

All Interest Forms must be submitted by April 3.
Organizations selected to move forward will receive an invitation to submit a full application by mid-May. Full applications will be due June 15, with award decisions anticipated by mid-July.

Eligibility Requirements

Organizations must:

• Hold current tax-exempt status as a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
• Operate in and serve residents of Lancaster County
• Demonstrate alignment with the Foundation’s mission to improve access to justice

Areas of Funding

Programs should advance one or more of the following:

• Improve the delivery of civil legal services
• Ensure equal access to justice for Lancaster County residents
• Increase awareness of legal resources
• Provide assistance to underserved or low-income populations
• Support law-related programs or educational initiatives

Grant Parameters and Reporting

Grant awards typically range from $1,500 to $10,000 and are awarded for one-year program periods.

Organizations selected for funding will be required to submit both:

• An interim progress report during the grant period
• A final evaluation report detailing outcomes and use of funds

These reporting requirements are an essential part of the Foundation’s stewardship and accountability process.

We encourage organizations to carefully review the Foundation’s funding priorities before submitting an Interest Form to ensure strong alignment with the mission and objectives of the Lancaster Law Foundation.
