Event Description
So, you want to sell your law firm? It’s possible; though, the process may have more twists and turns than you imagine; and, it’s better if you ramp up to it. Or, maybe: You want to buy a law firm. Also possible, with similar twists and turns. Law firm mergers and acquisitions are made on a regular basis – even when it comes to solos and small firms. In fact, those sorts of transactions have been on the rise for the last several years. As older lawyers look to retire, and younger lawyers look to expand their firms – a sale or merger may be just what the doctor (of law) ordered. So, let’s talk over how it’s done.
Join us for this lively program, when we’ll discuss all the ways that law firm associations can ebb and flow, as lawyers decide to wind down.
Specific topics to be addressed will include:
-how to plan for a law firm sale or merger
-actions to take prior to a sale or merger
-selling to an internal versus external buyer
-what happens post-sale?
-what happens if you just want to shut things down?
-what happens if you pass away while still actively managing your law firm? (yeah, it’s morbid: but, we gotta talk about it)
