In this dynamic and engaging session, Benjamin K. Grimes, a seasoned leadership coach and expert in legal ethics and professionalism, will guide you through practical strategies to enhance your leadership and management skills while reducing stress. This session is presented in mini-workshop style, engaging participants with hands-on opportunities to learn new skills and plan small shifts in their practice that can have big impacts on efficiency, attorney and employee well-being, and client engagement. The program will include a survey of the 9 keys to successful practice and will take a deep dive into a one critical aspect of success, while giving a roadmap to changes that can be implemented afterward. This session is designed for law firm partners and legal leaders looking to make a significant impact without compromising their health and happiness.

Ben Grimes brings an expansive background in military service, legal practice, and academic teaching to address the unique challenges and transitions lawyers face. His 20-year journey from being a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot to becoming a decorated military attorney gave him a deep understanding of the complexities and stresses inherent in legal the complex requirements and stresses of legal practice. After retiring from the Army, Ben has focused on continuing both his public service and his service to the legal community.

Recognizing the critical challenges of attorneys—especially those stepping into greater responsibilities and facing career transitions—Ben offers tailored support that transcends traditional coaching. His deep involvement in legal education, currently, as a Lecturer in Law for Columbia Law School, provides him with the experience to meet clients where they are and to guide them as they navigate their unique challenges. Whether supporting a new partner, practice group lead, or managing partner, Ben is skilled at fostering the personal and professional growth essential for success in these roles.
